Ardagh Heritage & Creativity Centre

Ardagh’s old schoolhouse is now a place for local heritage, art and creative activity.

The building dates from 1898 and has a life of its own within the historic village. As a former school, it is part of the everyday community history that sits alongside Ardagh’s better-known estate architecture.

The centre uses displays and activities to introduce visitors to local history and creative traditions. Its programmes vary, so the day’s events may matter as much as the permanent setting.

Ardagh’s nineteenth-century village plan makes a worthwhile walk after a visit. Look for the triangular green, the former estate cottages and the ornate clock tower designed as part of the Fetherston memorial scheme.

The village also has older religious and folklore associations, including Brí Leith. Those belong to different periods from the former school and should be explored on their own terms. Check current workshops, exhibitions or group visits with the centre. The historic village itself can be enjoyed from public paths and roads.
