Drumlish Heritage Trail

The Drumlish trail brings the Land War back into the village and its surrounding townlands through places, names and local accounts.

Drumlish Heritage & History Society documents 21 places on its heritage trail. Four of them are connected with the Land War, including the Derawley site where the eviction notice for Thomas Rogers was resisted in January 1881.

The trail also points to the Land League meeting place, the 1981 centenary plaque and Land War interpretation panels erected in 2021. Taken together, these help explain why a rural land dispute remained important in local memory for generations.

Other stops recall a working settlement, including its mill. The society provides town and district maps, which are more useful for planning than assuming every point lies within a short village stroll.

Some trail references concern historic sites rather than visitor premises. Use the society’s current mapping, observe signs and do not enter private property.
