Leebeen Park & Waterfall Trails

Leebeen Park is a gentle waterside outing near Aughnacliffe, with a second walk leading towards a local waterfall.

The park’s published 1.5 km route includes a lakeside boardwalk beside Lough Leebeen. It is designed as a short local walk rather than a long hike.

There are family facilities including a playground, picnic benches and a fairy garden. The water and its wildlife are the main attraction beyond those amenities.

The Aughnacliffe Waterfall Trail is a separate outing, described as a 1.4 km loop with a 430-metre linear section. It leads towards Pulliness waterfall.

Local interpretation includes the story of a water turbine that powered the old village post office in the 1930s. A modern turbine also features along the trail.

Use the published maps for each route. The marked family walks should not be confused with the informal farmland approach to Aughnacliffe’s portal tomb.
